18-year-old Striker, Silas Nwankwo has joined Swedish club, Mjallby AIFs from Nasarawa United.

Hotshot in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) Silas Nwankwo has explained why he chose Mjallby in Sweden over more lucrative offers from throughout Europe. Nwankwo, who scored 21 goals for Nasarawa United in both the league and the Federation Cup last season, said he and his agent, Famakinwa Lanre, discussed his development as a player and decided that Mjallby would be the ideal person to provide it.

“It’s true there were lots of offers for me, but me and my representative Famakinwa Lanre considered my development and growth as a player not only the money. Mjallby is the best for me,” he told SCORENigeria. His representative Famakinwa Lanre also told ScoreNigeria the same, saying that money will come soon but his development as a player was foremost.

“He is so excited about the deal. We settled for Mjallby because they were so interested in his growth as a player which is priority for us,” he disclosed.“He didn’t want to think about money at this stage of his career, money will come soon. “He needs to enjoy his game and develop well.” Silas Nwankwo signed a-four-year-deal with the club and he has been assigned jersey number 31.
