President William Ruto issues a stern warning to Azimio over planned three day demo.
President William Ruto has issued a stern warning to Raila Odinga’s Azimio outfit and vowed that their planned three-day anti-government protests will not happen next week.
Speaking in Naivasha one hour after the Azimio la Umoja coalition announced the resumption of demos to be held across the country for three consecutive days next week, Ruto warned Raila Odinga that he would take him on.
“We are done with elections and you cannot take leadership using the blood of innocent Kenyans and destroying property. Listen to me carefully, the demos will not happen. You cannot use extra judicial and extra-constitutional to look for power in Kenya. Wait for 2027 and I will beat you again” Said the president.
The president also declared that there would be no handshake, saying it would destroy Kenya.
“I will stand my ground. Kenya is for all of us. It is not for demos,” added Mr. Ruto.
“You can only do demos in your house, not anywhere else. Do these things you want to do in your home, not anywhere else. We will not accept that.”
Azimio la Umoja had issued a statement declaring nationwide demos for three consecutive days next week due to public demand.
“Going forward, the peaceful protests will be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week in line with the request from the public to include three days of activity,” read the statement.
