Embakasi MP Babu Owino Arraigned in Court
Hon. Babu Owino and the co-accused Calvin Okoth have been presented before the Milimani Law courts presided over by chief magistrate Lukas Onyina. The Member of Parliament has been in police custody since Tuesday evening when he was arrested by the DCI officers at JKIA.
The MP alongside other six members was presented in the court under tight security, a situation, which has been criticized by his lawyer Mr. Ndegwa. The MP and his accomplices are accused of engaging in subversive activities, considered prejudicial to the public order. During the court session, they complained of having been tortured and their human rights violated.
The Chief magistrate released him on a one hundred cash bail. However, he was re-arrested at the court premises when the family members were still processing the cash bail. The motive behind the re-arrest is still unknown.
