Faith Kipyegon breaks another world record in the Monaco Diamond League.

Double Olympic and 1,500 metres champion, Faith Kipyegon, continued her remarkable form by smashing the women’s mile world record in Monaco on Friday.

Kipyegon clocked in at 4:07.64 to shave almost five seconds off the previous mile mark of 4:12.33 set by her long-time rival Sifan Hassan on the same track in 2019.

This is her third world record in 50 days.

She now holds the world records in 1,500m and 5,000m and the world mile record.

Kipyegon started this imperious run of Wanda Diamond League form in Florence on 2 June, when she became the first woman to run 1500m in under 3:50. She then conquered Paris a week later, this time splintering the 5000m record, before laying siege to the mile in Monaco.
