TWITTER’S REDISIGN: BLUE BIRD TO BE REPLACED BY AN “X.”

Twitter Inc owner, Elon Musk, has signaled that the platform will replace its current bird logo with an “X” logo.

Under Musk’s tumultuous tenure since he bought Twitter in October, the company has changed its business name to X Corp earlier this year.

In a tweet posted on Sunday 23rd July, 2023, Musk said the social media giant will soon move on from the Twitter brand, including “all the birds.”

“And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds. If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make go live worldwide tomorrow” he tweeted.

He also added that the “X” logo could be launched as soon as Monday, July 24, 2023.

Tweets will be called an X, Musk wrote, and followers will be called “viewers,”

The rebrand is the latest change to Twitter by Mr. Musk since he acquired the company in October 2022 for $44 billion.

His move to change Twitter’s logo to an “X” also comes as Twitter faces new competition from Meta’s new app, Threads, launched earlier this month.

Twitter’s legacy blue bird logo was temporarily replaced by Dogecoin’s Shiba Inu dog earlier this year, a move that helped drive a surge of up to $4 billion in the cryptocurrency’s market value.

Since its acquisition, Twitter has faced criticism over its controversial changes, including verification for paying Twitter Blue subscribers instead of the previous requirement of users having to show they are notable in news, entertainment or elsewhere.

Twitter recently began paying social media influencers who meet engagement criteria.
