Voi Students Suspended For Eating Extra Bread, Told To Buy Bale Of Flour And 10 Litres Of Cooking Oil.
Parents and the community around from Voi Boys Secondary School were stunned when a group of 10 boys was suspended for eating an extra load of bread during breakfast.
Their condition for readmission was that each student would have to bring a bale of wheat flour and 10 litres of cooking oil.
The controversial decision by the school management has left many people stunned, with some asking for action to be taken against the school leadership.
The parents feel that the decision does not match the offence committed and will impose even further constraints to the parents, especially now that people are fighting economic hardships.
The 10 boys were suspended on Monday during the onset of the second term.
According to the parents representative, the school’s decision is fair because it was agreed up during a parents’ meeting in order to discourage such cases of indiscipline.
“This is the practice in all schools across the country. The parents will now instill discipline to their kids at home and the kids will be discouraged from misbehaving because of the financial burden they bring to their parents” said Mr. Elias Mberi who is the parents representative.

Parents are now urging school heads to reconsider their decisions and find more compassionate ways to address issues of indiscipline among students.
