The changes, described by the President as essential for enhancing governance and economic stability, included prominent political figures and technocrats.

In his address from State House, President Ruto emphasized the need for a dynamic and efficient team to steer the country towards prosperity. “Today, I present to you a team that embodies competence, dedication, and a commitment to serve our great nation. These individuals have demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise in their respective fields, and I am confident they will drive our agenda forward,” Ruto stated.

Rebecca Miano, currently the CEO of KenGen, was nominated as Cabinet Secretary for Tourism. Miano’s leadership in the energy sector has been lauded for its focus on sustainability and innovation. “Rebecca Miano’s track record in promoting green energy and her strategic vision make her an ideal candidate to revitalize our tourism industry,” the President noted.

Opiyo Wandayi, the Member of Parliament for Ugunja, was named the Cabinet Secretary for Energy. Wandayi, known for his advocacy on energy issues, was praised by Ruto for his forward-thinking approach. “Opiyo Wandayi brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for renewable energy. He will play a pivotal role in our quest for energy independence,” Ruto said.

In a move that surprised many, Kipchumba Murkomen, previously the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, was shifted to the Ministry of Youth Affairs. Murkomen’s appointment was highlighted by President Ruto as crucial for engaging the country’s youth. “Kipchumba Murkomen has the energy and vision to connect with our young people and harness their potential for national development,” Ruto declared.

Another high-profile nomination is that of Hassan Joho, the former Governor of Mombasa, as the Cabinet Secretary for Mining. Joho, who has been instrumental in regional economic development, was commended for his innovative leadership. “Hassan Joho has demonstrated a keen understanding of economic drivers and has the ability to transform our mining sector,” Ruto asserted.
