Tanzania Restricts Access to X Over Pornographic Content, Minister Says
Tanzania has moved to block access to the social media platform X, citing concerns over pornographic content, according to Information Minister Jerry Silaa. In an interview with a local TV station, Silaa said the platform hosts material that goes against the country’s laws, culture, customs, and traditions.
For the past two weeks, many Tanzanians have reported limited access to X, especially following rising political tensions and the hacking of the official police account. However, the platform has not yet been completely shut down across the country.
