Seven Chinese nationals arrested after 120 rounds of ammunition recovered in Nairobi
Seven Chinese nationals working for a construction company have been arrested in Nairobi after detectives recovered 120 rounds of 9mm ammunition during an intelligence-led operation.
The seven, identified by police as Du Bingchen, Du Yanqing, Han Bo, Wang Rui, Shi Jixing, Cui Shiqiang and Miao Qisheng, are employees of China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC). They were arrested by Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers at the Jockey Club Shooting Range within Ngong Race Course on Friday, October 2, 2026.
During a search, officers allegedly found Du Bingchen, who was carrying an alien certificate and passport, with 120 rounds of 9mm ammunition concealed inside a small grey backpack.
Police said the ammunition was being held unlawfully, prompting officers to take all seven suspects into custody as investigations continue into how the ammunition was acquired and why it was being carried.
Detectives are also investigating the motive and circumstances surrounding the groupβs presence at the shooting range and their possession of the ammunition.
