Sakaja Fires Geoffrey Mosiria in Immediate Nairobi County Shake-Up

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has reshuffled three county chief officers, with Geoffrey Mosiria losing his position with immediate effect in a major administrative shake-up.

In a notice dated October 21, 2026, County Secretary Dr. Machel Waikenda announced several acting appointments aimed at reorganising key county departments.

Eng. Samwel Njogu has been designated Acting Chief Officer for Mobility, while Zipporah Njeri Mwangi will serve as Acting Chief Officer for Public Participation, Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, alongside her existing Culture, Arts and Tourism portfolio.

Meanwhile, Godfrey Akumali has been appointed Acting Chief Officer for Lands, in addition to his responsibilities for Housing and Urban Renewal.

The changes take effect immediately, marking a significant reshuffle within the Nairobi City County administration.

The departure of Mosiria, a prominent county official, is likely to attract public attention as residents await further details regarding the changes and their implications for service delivery.

The county government has not provided additional details in the notice regarding the circumstances surrounding Mosiria’s removal.
