This is to bring to your attention that Kapcherop Health Centre in Elgeyo Marakwet county is no longer a public hospital. Cartels have taken over and it’s now a private enterprise:

1. There are two pharmacies at the hospital. One is run by the county government (no medicine) and another one privately owned(well stocked) and payments are paid to a paybill owned by an individual. Both are inside the health facility but in separate rooms, 30 meters apart. The private pharmacy is allegedly owned by Health CEC.

2. Laboratory. Currently services are offered on pay in cash at the lab, if paying via mpesa there’s a mobile number that you sent to. The number belongs to a certain lady. Hoover, no receipts issued.

3. Outpatient cards. Every patient buys a card every time he or she visits the facility at Ksh 50bob. If you go with a previous one, you’re told to buy a new one. They say it’s an order from above. This is paid at the records room, in cash.

4. A consultation fee of 50bob, paid in cash at the examination room. It’s paid to the examining officer (nurses now that doctors are on strike). As usual, no receipts are issued.

THE BIG QUESTION:

Is the governor aware of this rot at Kapcherop Health Centre? If yes, what action has he taken?

If unaware, let him be informed. He should reign in as early as tomorrow morning.
