A 14-year-old boy is in police arrest after his hooded jumper was discovered inside an empty house where his missing friend was brutally murdered in peculiar circumstances that stunned locals of Kisaju, Kajiado County. A court in Kajiado permitted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to keep the kid in custody until the inquiry into the death of Emmanuel Kibet Kipkemboi was completed on Wednesday evening.
Three adults at Jamii Bora estate in Kisaju, eight kilometers off the Nairobi-Namanga route, positively identified the brown jumper taken by police from the scene of Kibet’s death as belonging to his companion. Kibet, an 11-year-old Grade 5 student at Sathya Sai School who lived with his father until his death in January, went missing while playing football outside his mother’s home in Jamii Bora estate on Sunday, March 27.
Kibet, an avid football player, had never been in any difficulty or pulled a disappearing act before, according to his family. That Sunday morning, though, he vanished, prompting a frenzied neighborhood search. Jamii Bora estate, which was originally built as a low-cost housing project for Nairobi slum dwellers in the dusty plains of Isinya, has been vacated over the years as home owners returned to the city, leaving hundreds of empty and decaying structures.
