This weekend at The Tusker Nextersfest in Eldoret, Mpasho’s Kalondu Musyimi interviewed Awinja. We asked her three questions about her mother because it was Mother’s Day weekend. The first was what she admired most about her mother.
“She loves us with her patience and kindness.” You know how old women don’t say they love you, but you can tell it’s true. She battled with us after my father died, but she never showed us how difficult it was for her. I can see that now that I’m older. So I can’t even express how glad I am for her.”
What was the best piece of advice she had received from her mother?
“To have faith in myself in anything I do. This is something I’ve kept in my bag because in our field, if someone doesn’t believe in themselves, it becomes a problem.”
