Beth Mugo’s husband dies at 85

The husband of nominated Senator Beth Mugo, Ambassador Nicholas Mugo, has died. Amb. Mugo died in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 3rd. Senator Mugo claims that her 60-year-old husband died after a long illness while being treated at the Nairobi Hospital.

“It is with profound sadness and sorrow, I wish to announce the death of my husband, Amb. Nicholas Mugo, that happened early this morning at the Nairobi Hospital after a long illness,” she said in a statement.According to his profile, the deceased was one of the first Kenyans to benefit from the late Tom Mboya and the late Dr Julius Kiano’s academic scholarship program. In the 1950s, Dr. Kiano and Mboya collaborated with the late US President John F. Kennedy.
The family, in the statement, revealed that the deceased was recruited to join the East African Community while he was still in the US.
“He was among the first Kenyan Africans who came back to the country to take up the responsibilities of serving the nation,” the statement further read.
He was a diplomat who served as Kenya’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Yugoslavia, the Vatican, and France, among other nations. He was also a devout Christian who served as an Elder in the Pentecostal Church of East Africa (PCEA). He will be cremated on Friday, February 4, according to his family.
