According to reports, businessman Jimi Wanjigi was kicked out of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) coalition discussions on Wednesday.
The tycoon, who was seen on OKA’s recent excursions in Ukambani and Mount Kenya, was conspicuously absent from the occasion, which welcomed two new principals.
Wanjigi was reportedly booted out of the OKA discussions due to allegations that he is Deputy President William Ruto’s stooge. Some coalition members reportedly objected to his repeated attacks on ODM leader Raila Odinga, his party’s leader.
Wanjigi has severally accused Odinga of betrayal, even in the recent OKA rallies. He was absent from a major event in which Wiper chief Kalonzo Musyoka and KANU’s Gideon Moi inked a coalition agreement with new principals Martha Karua (Narc Kenya) and Cyrus Jirongo of the United Democratic Forum Party (UDF).
The leaders signed a Deed of Assignment, a collaborative agreement that now formally embraces all of the alliance’s constituent political parties. The deal, according to the leaders, allows them to engage with like-minded partners in order to establish a bigger coalition ahead of the August 9 General Elections.
Musalia Mudavadi (Amani National Congress) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya), who had lately deserted to join DP Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), were replaced by the two new principals.
When queried about Wanjigi’s whereabouts, Kalonzo replied that the businessman claimed to be a member of Odinga’s ODM party, which is not affiliated with OKA.
