DJ Alex Murimi alias DJ Lithium of Capital FM has died.
On Wednesday, January 19, DJ Lithium allegedly took poison within the Capital FM headquarters and was transported to Nairobi hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Lithium is said to have deleted all of his social media accounts and texted close friends and family to inform them that he had died.
He also left a suicide note, claiming family troubles as one of the factors that led to his death.
His death, according to the station’s management, is still being investigated.
“Alex was a fantastic addition to the Capital FM team, with excellent talent as a DJ, producer, and a unique “right-wing” sense of humour,” said Danny Munyi, Capital FM’s Programmes Director.
“To honor him, we will honor his enthusiasm for this company, his direct breakfast team, and his fellow mixxmasters, and we will treasure the moments we enjoyed with him.”
“As we all lament Alex’s loss, we politely urge you to respect the family’s privacy at
this terrible time,” the company added.
Alex worked at the station for eight years as a Producer and DJ.
