For failing to appear in court, Embu Governor Martin Wambora has been slapped with an arrest warrant. Wambora was supposed to give an explanation for why his personal assistant and two advisors were fired. On Monday, Labour Court Judge Monica Mbaru ordered that the Governor, County Secretary Josephat Ndwiga, and County Public Service Board member Joseph Nyaga be arrested for disobedience. The county manager and authorities are also accused of disobeying a court order to pay the former employees’ salaries and other obligations.

Bosco Mutegi Kiura, Joshua Mugo, and Professor Joe Kamani filed a lawsuit against the Public Service Board, claiming that their constitutional rights were infringed after they were fired. Professor Kamani was the governor’s economic counselor, while Mugo was his political advisor. Bosco, the governor’s personal assistant, claims he was not issued a warning letter before being fired, according to the court document. They took their case to court, requesting reinstatement and payment of their unpaid salaries and dues.
On January 18, the court issued an order to reinstate the three to their former offices unconditionally pending the hearing and determination of the matter. The plaintiffs were also ordered by the court to be paid within seven days by the Embu County Government and PSB. Wambora, Mugo, and Kamaria had been granted 14 days to prepare their defense against the three plaintiffs and schedule a registry hearing. On Wednesday, the subject will be discussed.
