In 2019, the country wentin shock as details about four senior officials plotting to assassinate the Deputy President. After the four, he frequently saw having meetings and planning to remove the DP from the 2022 elections as he posed a threat.
According to the Kenya Today News Source, the four, namely, Joseph Gicheru (ICT), James Macharia (Transport), Peter Munya (Trade), and Sicily Kariuki (Health), were determined to prevent William Ruto from ascending to power.

However, President Uhuru Kenyatta took strict actions in beefing up security for him. The concerns were solved, and the dust settled down until recently when the former Governor Mike Sonko brought a new wake of many concerns. The controversial governor made it clear that the DP should be careful not to take any food from the statehouse, for there were plans to assassinate him.
“I just want to warn the dp not to partake anything that is offered to him at the state house and that is because I love him and would like him to be the fifth president of Kenya,” He claimed.
In Kasparian, Kajiado County, where he, the deputy president, and other high profile dignitaries had attended, Sonko made the claims in open daylight. Mr. Mbuvi alleged that the information came from his trusted sources, and he was concerned about the Tangatanga Movement leader. Furthermore, he added that he was also on the people’s list to be assassinated among the deputy president.

Lastly, he concluded that if the former CS of Security, the late George Saitoti, would have been president if it were not for the helicopter crash and not the president Uhuru Kenyatta.
