Details of Uhuru-Raila post coalition agreement revealed

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, the leader of the ODM Party, are expected to reach a post-coalition agreement soon. This implies a deal that will be implemented after the Azimio la Umoja, a coalition of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s and Raila Odinga’s backers, wins power in the August elections.

For years, the two had had a handshake arrangement, which resulted in Deputy President William Ruto being thrown under the bus. In terms of the August elections, President Uhuru has often stated that Raila Odinga will be his chosen successor over DP Ruto.
President Uhuru Kenyatta would seek a “Mkate nusu government” with Raila Odinga, according to Taifa Leo. As a result, if Azimio wins, Raila and President Uhuru will share senior government positions such as Cabinet Secretary half and half. President Kibaki and Raila formed a Mkate nusu cabinet after the 2007 elections, in which they shared all seats.
