omedian Eric Omondi, was recently arrested by the Kenya Film Classification Board for the production of content on his online show, the “Wife Material 2”, which had some irregularities in it.
This happened after a clip from the show licked and went viral. In the video, some women among the selected to feature in the Wife Material 2, exchanged blows at a club in Nairobi. However, the brawl was assumed to be over Eric, while some people in police uniforms and his bodyguards seen attempting to stop the women.
In a statement during a press briefing, the KFCB C.E.O Ezekeiel Mutua stated that they have had an agreement with Eric Omondi regarding the content that the board considered unsuitable for a younger audience hence to be deleted from the comedian’s You Tube Channel.
“The board has keenly examined Eric’s apology and request for an out of court settlement and is willing to settle the case through an alternative dispute resolution on condition that the said Eric Omondi deletes all the explicit content running on his online channels and that the programme in contention dubbed “wife material” is suspended forthwith until this case is heard and determined and the same fully complies with the provision of the films and stage plays act cap 222 of the laws of Kenya,” read the statement.
Additionally, the Board stated their intention to give out guidelines on self-regulation for online content developers. Further, during the meeting, the board agreed to withdraw the case against Omondi.
