On Saturday morning, five persons were killed when two automobiles crashed on the Namanga-Kajiado route. The collision in the Ilbisi area left three others in critical condition, according to police. At the moment of the collision, the vehicles were traveling in opposing directions. According to authorities who arrived at the scene, the Probox had multiple occupants, four of whom perished on the spot while others suffered significant injuries.
The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the mortuary of the Kajiado County Referral Hospital, while the injured have been hospitalized to the same facility. The incident is being investigated, according to police. It comes at a time when officials claim that since the beginning of the year, the number of accidents has increased when compared to the same period the previous year. According to traffic commandant Mary Omari, more than 270 people have been killed in accidents since the new year, compared to 201 in the same period in 2021. Pedestrians make up the majority of them.
