Omingo Magara, the former National Treasurer of Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), has joined the ruling Jubilee party. Jeremiah Kioni, the party’s secretary-general and a member of Parliament from Ndaragua, greeted Magara at the party’s headquarters in Nairobi on Monday, March 21. Magara was welcomed to the party by Kioni, who crowned him with a Jubilee-party branded headgear. “I’d like to use this opportunity to present Magara with this cap as a symbol that he has agreed to cooperate with the Jubilee party, as a signal of his clarity of mind on what he has decided to accomplish. I’d want to express my gratitude for your decision, and we’d like to officially welcome you to the party “The SG of the Jubilee party stated.
Kioni granted the ex-UDA official permission to run for any elective office under the Jubilee party’s banner. Magara, for one, revealed that he decided to join President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party after surveying Kisii residents. “I purposefully participated in consultations in order to hear from a diverse group of Kenyans, particularly in Kisii County, on how they want to move ahead as a people. My people’s voice has left me with no choice but to join the Jubilee party “he exclaimed.
The former MP, who has expressed interest in running for governor of Kisii County, claims that others persuaded him to join the Azimio la Umoja party, which is led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. “Our people feel more respected and represented within the Azimio la Umoja movement under Jubilee, where I’ll be servicing their ambitions,” he continued. Magara also stated that he will campaign for Odinga and spread the message of unity throughout Kisii County and the country.
