Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala on Monday, 14th broke into tears in parliament during a senate committee as he pleads the senate and the Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai beef up his security details as he quotes that his life is in danger after his dramatical arrest a fortnight ago.
During his plea, Malala sounded depressed and disturbed with the news of unknown people following him up. “I am a young father and husband, it is disheartening for people to sit in a corner and think they can take your life.” Read part of his statement during the committee meeting.
Senator Malala woes come after his stern stand on the Revenue allocation debate that has seen Counties losing girth on service delivery.
“Nobody is willing to give me security Mr. Chair. It is sad for me to walk around the streets of Kakamega and Kenya knowing that I’m going to die the next day,” stated the embattled senator.
He went ahead to add, “As a result of those real and credible threats to harm, injure, eliminate or assassinate me, a Member of Parliament, I now request your office to take immediate action to enhance the security detail assigned to me including additional security provided immediately to my family and my residence in Kakamega and Nairobi.”
The sitting had been convened to discuss the security issue surrounding the Kakamega Senator after his woes piled up.
