HIGH COURT DECLINES TO TEMPORARILY SUSPEND IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW TRAFFIC MODEL IN MOMBASA

Mombasa county government implementation of new traffic model that started on 2nd of feburuary 2022 has been working and now the High Court has declined to temporarily stop it’s implementation.

This new system which includes barring of heavy commercial vehicle from CBD was aimed at curbing the traffic jams experienced by citizens.

Due to public demand Taufiq Balala CEC of Mombasa county said that this was influenced by the fact that many people complained about the traffic jams and needed the government to do something.

After it’s implementation congestion was experienced and a lot of confusion but the government was however ready for that since it is they said it was the first week they expected that.

Roads that were affected some of them being made one way were, Sheikh Abdalla Farsi, Digo, Jomo Kenyatta and Ronald Ngala road in specific.

The county government wanted to specifically decongest the island to make it a better place for the people leaving in Mombasa.
