Kenya ranked 27th unhappiest country in the world.

According to a new worldwide happiness study, Kenya is the 27th unhappiest country. In the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network’s 2022 World Happiness Report, Kenya is ranked 119th out of 146 nations. According to the report, Kenyan respondents mentioned perceived government corruption as the top driver of their displeasure. This is a modest drop from last year’s happiness rating, when the country was ranked 121st out of 149 nations. Kenya came in at number 23 in Africa, after Uganda, which led the East African Community (EAC) and was placed 117th globally. Tanzania is placed 139th out of 146 countries, with Ethiopia coming in at number 131.

According to the report, Rwanda is the most unhappy country in the EAC, ranking in the bottom four on the global happiness index, barely ahead of Zimbabwe, Lebanon, and Afghanistan. Mauritius was placed number 52 in the world, followed by Libya, Ivory Coast, South Africa, and the Gambia. Finland was declared the happiest country in the world for the fifth year in a row, followed by Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. The World Happiness Report, which was founded in 2012, is based on people’s own assessments of their happiness as well as economic and social data.
Based on an average of data over a three-year period, it assigns a happiness score on a scale of zero to ten. The authors noted that they used data from social media in this year’s study to compare people’s feelings before and after the Covid-19 pandemic. In 18 countries, they found “significant increases in anxiety and melancholy,” as well as a decrease in anger.
