Killer Waterfalls! Love picnic turns tragedy as Jepkemoi slip and fall into the dam as boyfriend watches helplessly – Sunsetkenya

A family from Kapchorua in Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet County, is pleading for help from the national and county governments of Uasin Gishu and Nandi to retrieve the body of their beloved daughter who slipped and fall in a dam bordering Nandi county and Uasin Gishu county on Sunday.

Dorcas Chumba accidentally fall into the dam when she was posing to take some romantic pictures with his boyfriend Kazungu in what might have looked a romantic scene changed immediately after slipping into the roaring dam.

Kazungu watched Dorcas drowning and his efforts to save the situation turned futile. Members of the community arose to the occasion but then, they could not save the drowning lady.

“It was the worst scene of my life. Seeing her sinking helplessly into the water and my effort to save her proving futile breaks my heart even more,” narrates Benjamin Kazungu, the fiance to Dorcas.

Dorcas family are still camped at the scene waiting for the body of their beloved one to be retrieved as the area Nandi County police boss Samson Ole Kina said recovery efforts have been hampered by raging floods and asked the public to keep off the falls during the rainy season.

Chepkiit waterfalls has taken innocent souls over the past, and according to the locals, CHEPKIIT, means ‘view from far’ as it gives a warning from the dangerous falls and dams around especially during the rain season.

In 2013, Chepkiit waterfalls corrupted Moi University student her dear life while in a picnic. In 2017, Uasin Gishu Secondary lost a candidate and in 2018, one Cynthia, a Kisii University student lost her life at the waterfalls too.
