Lamu elders have summoned a man who claims that Mombasa Governor hopeful Mike Sonko went to the incorrect cemetery while praying at his late mother’s gravesite. Lamu native and community leader Alawy Badawy stated Abubakar Aboud’s statement had outraged Lamu elders. Aboud’s mother, he stated, is still alive and resides in Lamu.
“We will take legal action against him.” “They’ve contacted his family and warned him,” Badway claimed in a phone interview with a local newspaper. The Lamu elders, he claimed, want Aboud to submit an apology and explain why he made the statement. “His mother is from Lamu.” “Right now, we can take the journalists to her,” Badawy said.
The Lamu elders also requested that Sonko visit the archipelago so that they may bestow their blessings on him. On Saturday, Lamu County resident Aboud accused Sonko of exploiting his mother’s burial for political gain. “This is the grave of my mother, Mariam Ali.” Aboud stated, “She was buried here seven years ago.” “Leave it to Sonko to find his mother’s grave.” “It’s not this one,” a sobbing Aboud added.
