A clinical officer from Kisii has been found after going missing after testifying in the ongoing murder case against Migori Governor Okoth Obado at the Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday. Mr. Cliff Momanyi, a Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital employee, testified in the prosecution against Governor Obado and others for the death of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno. Mr. Momanyi’s wife, Mary Kimaiga said that on Thursday her husband had not returned home after leaving on Tuesday for a work-related trip in Nairobi.
Momanyi testified in court on March 23 that he fabricated medical papers to imply that Michael Oyamo, Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s personal aide, was ill during the time Sharon Otieno was reported missing. On September 3, 2018, Otieno was discovered dead in woodland in Homa Bay County. Governor Obado and two others, including Oyamo, are charged with murder in the killing of Sharon Otieno. Cliff Momanyi, the medic who authored Oyamo’s “falsified” medical records, was reported missing after testifying on Wednesday, and his family filed an OB Number 54/23/3/2022 at the Kisii Central Police Station.
Before he was reported missing, his phone signal was detected near Bomet on Wednesday evening. However, he returned to his Gesusu home on Friday morning, with his wife claiming that she had discovered that Momanyi had gone to his parents’ house without alerting her. Momanyi’s wife, Mary Kimaiga, claimed, “He has refused to reveal where he went or what caused him to cut off touch with us.” Momanyi works at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital as a clinical officer.
