After a fire broke out on sartuday night at the Aberdare ranges , forest rangers and volunteers battled flames and strong winds on Sunday to stop the fast spreading fire.
The fierce fire took them nearly 24 hours to put it off. It has however been reported to have destroyed more than 550 hectares of land this is after it was confirmed by the the Kenya Forest Services (KFS).
It said that arson could be behind the fire that took down 550 hectares of land. Aberdare ranges being the third highest mountain in Kenya it reaches a summit of 4.000 metres.
This not being not the first fire case experienced there many hectares of land in the past few years have also been destroyed due to outbreaks of the fires at the ranges.
Aberdare forms a section of the eastern region of the great riftvalley in the western central of Kenya, northeast of Naivasha and that of gilgil.
It’s however so sad that oftenly so many hectares of land have to be destroyed by fires that some the causes are clear yet for others they are not.
