Moses Kuria and Raila Odinga Junior meet at the Gulf Cooperation Council-Kenya Business Forum in Dubai.

Raila Junior, the son of ODM leader Raila Odinga, is the latest member of Kenya’s elite to visit or see Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria in Dubai. The MP has been in a Dubai hospital for weeks, undergoing treatment for burns on his feet. The scion expressed his admiration for Kuria’s rehabilitation progress in a tweet. He also revealed that he used the opportunity to lure Kuria to join Azimio la Umoja in the quest to make Kenya a better country.

Good to bump into my brother Hon. Moses Kuria is in Dubai and I am happy to witness his recovery. I have asked him to join the winning team Azimio, tupeleke Kenya mbele pamoja,” he said on Tuesday.

The two met at the Gulf Cooperation Council-Kenya Business Forum which is expected to be opened by President Uhuru Kenyatta later on Tuesday. He also met with Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya and Mutahi Kagwe, as well as President Richard Ngatia of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry. President Uhuru Kenyatta is on a three-day business visit to the United Arab Emirates, and the CSs are accompanying him. On Monday, Uhuru left the nation. Deputy President William Ruto also paid a visit to the Gatundu South MP at the Dubai hospital on February 3.

Kuria said on Facebook that the country’s second-in-command was in Dubai, where he paid him a courtesy call. The MP said he used the meeting to give the DP an update on his rehabilitation and to wish him well for his upcoming homecoming on February 19. Kuria was hospitalized after suffering third-degree burns on his foot. Kuria has been receiving therapy in Dubai for about three months after hurting his legs with an electric blanket. After stem cell surgery, the MP was able to walk for the first time in 137 days. The MP stated that he will be attending the forum on the sidelines, which is meant to improve Kenya’s business connections with the Gulf state.

Officials from the Kenyan business community and the Gulf Cooperation Council accompanied Uhuru (GCC). Uhuru arrived in Dubai on February 14 for a three-day official visit. Before meeting with UAE authorities, the Head of State will officially launch the Kenya-UAE business forum.

“It is expected that the Kenyan business representatives will engage and strike business deals with their UAE counterparts and other participating countries. “The purpose of the President coming here is to showcase business and investment opportunities that are available in Kenya. And there are quite a number of them mostly in the investment areas,” Kenya’s Ambassador to the UAE Kariuki Mugwe stated.

Former Kiambu Governor and Tujibebe Wakenya Party leader, William Kabogo was also spotted in Dubai. Other notable leaders included Health Cabinet Secretary (CS), Mutahi Kagwe, his Agriculture counterpart, Peter Munya, and Nairobi Gubernatorial Aspirant, Richard Ngatia.
