On Tuesday, February 1, nominated Member of Parliament David Sankok generated murmurs in the August House when he appeared dressed in a black suit for the day’s sitting. Sankok, who was elected to Parliament on a People With Disabilities (PWD) ticket, has always worn a signature green suit with the other three colors of the national flag striped on the collars.
“There is a lot of excitement here today and I suspect it has to do with today’s unusual attired by the honourable Sankok,” Speaker Justin Muturi said during the proceedings to constitute the House Business Committee.“Obviously he is exceptionally smart. Or rather unusually smart,” Muturi said before affirming that the nominated MP was, “exceptionally smart after fellow MPs joined in the banter.”
MPs voted unanimously on Tuesday to accept the reconstruction of the House Business Committee, which threatened to disrupt Parliamentary operations after lawmakers failed to reach a consensus earlier.
MPs Mishi Mboko (Likoni) and Godfrey Osotsi (Nominated), Joyce Emanikor (Turkana Woman Rep), Shadrack John Mose (Kitutu Masaba), Kawira Mwangaza (Meru Woman Rep), Mohamed Abdikhaim Osman (Fafi), and Makali Mulu (Kitui Central) were selected as members of the committee chaired by Speaker Muturi.
The committee also has Majority leader Amos Kimunya, Minority Leader John Mbadi, Majority Whip Emmanuel Wangwe and Minority Whip Junet Mohamed as members
