On April 7th, a contender running for the Nandi Hills parliamentary seat on the United Democratic Alliance Party ticket was killed in a car accident. Tingeet, Wesley Kibet Kogo, was on his way to Nairobi to appear on a radio show. The collision occurred in Nairobi’s Kangemi neighbourhood.
His admirers, Nandi Hills locals, and politicians from all political parties paid tribute to him. The UDA National Elections Board has postponed the constituency’s parliamentary seat nominations to the 19th of this month to give citizens more time to grieve.
Wesley will be laid to rest in Nandi today. Leaders from the political camp of Deputy President William Ruto have begun to arrive. Hon Oscar Kipchumba Sudi, Member of Parliament for Kapsaret, Hon Didmus Barasa, Member of Parliament for Kiminini, Hon Didmus Barasa, and Member of Parliament for Soy, Caleb Kositany, to name a few, have already arrived at the venue.
