Premier League: Norwich 0 – 2 Chelsea

Following reports that Roman Abramovich has been added to the UK government’s sanction list, the Premier League has announced that Norwich City vs Chelsea will take place on Thursday evening. On Thursday morning, the 55-year-old Russian’s assets were blocked, following weeks of pressure to impose punishment against the club’s owner. The Blues, on the other hand, has been granted a ‘Russia Regulation’ license, which allows them to continue functioning with limits in order to reduce the impact on the club and the football pyramid.

Chelsea will be able to pay players and staff, as well as pay overdue transfer fees and receive payments, however, all of these will be frozen.
“Following the UK Government’s declaration that sanctions have been imposed against Roman Abramovich, the Premier League can confirm tonight’s match between Norwich City and Chelsea will go ahead as planned,” the Premier League said in a statement. The government has granted Chelsea an initial license, allowing them to practice, play their fixtures, and meet their responsibilities for the remainder of the season.
The team will no longer be able to sell tickets for their games, but the 28,000 season ticket holders will be able to attend and make any overdue payments. Additional tickets, including those for away fans, will no longer be available for purchase. Any tickets already purchased will be honored, according to the Department of Culture, Media, and Sport, which states: “Any tickets acquired before to March 10, 2022, including season-tickets purchased prior to March 10, 2022, are permitted to attend fixtures.”
