Private detective Jane Mugo loses UDA ticket for Kirinyaga Woman Rep seat

In the party primaries, Mugo was defeated by Jane Njeri Maina, a 28-year-old lawyer. Njeri will now campaign under the UDA banner in the upcoming elections. Njeri thanked the party for its support in a press conference on Friday, April 15, and recognised that the election was competitive, but that it was now time to unite the county and work for the sake of the people.

Njeri won the UDA ticket after defeating her opponents, Jane Mugo, a private investigator, and Ann Wangeshi, the first Kirinyaga County Assembly Speaker, in a close battle. Maryanne Keitany, former Deputy President William Ruto’s Chief of Staff, defeated Cornelius Serem, an Aldai Member of Parliament, in the nominations.

In the race for the UDA ticket, Keitany received 16,597 votes, while Serem received 13,878 votes. The results of hopefuls who ran for the UDA ticket in the primaries are still coming in a day later. After defeating Pauline Tuwei, Jonathan Tuwei, and David Koros, notable names such as MP Oscar Sudi earned the UDA ticket. Daniel Tuitoek, the incumbent Mogotio MP, won the ticket to defend his seat
