Ruto must pick Mudavadi as his running mate – Malala demands

Senator Cleophas Malala of Kakamega has requested that Deputy President William Ruto name ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi as his running mate in the August presidential election, threatening unspecified consequences if he does not. While campaigning in Kakamega County’s Malava seat on Saturday, Malala observed that Mudavadi is the greatest candidate to succeed Ruto, adding that his experience as an experienced politician and civil servant provides him an advantage. “This time, we’re insisting on a coalition of parties rather than a coalition of areas.” “As a party, we are declaring that if the UDA wins the presidential election, the ANC wants to be the deputy president,” he stated.

Malala took a go at Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, who has been mentioned as a possible running partner for the DP, saying that the latter’s resume cannot be compared to Mudavadi’s. The pick of DP Ruto’s running mate has caused a division in the Kenya Kwanza coalition in recent weeks. Gachagua sparked the rift by claiming in a recent interview that the Kenya Kwanza running mate role had been earmarked for the Mt Kenya region.
“On March 15, we will hold our National Democratic Congress (NDC) meeting to introduce our candidate William Ruto, and then other events will take place.” But, in my opinion, Ruto is a presidential contender, and his running mate will emerge from the mountain when the moment is right. “We were quite fort-right when they came for a conversation since we are honest people.” “We agreed that the running partner should be from the mountain (the Mt Kenya region),” Gachagua remarked in an interview with Citizen TV. The ANC made a statement in response to Gachagua’s interview, stating that the coalition has yet to decide on its flag bearer and running partner and that the MP’s remarks were disrespectful and ill-informed.
