Legendary Spanish defender Sergio Ramos could be forced to retire due to his constant injury problems, according to a leading doctor.
The World Cup-winner left Real Madrid after 16 years last summer to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. His difficulties have continued at Parc des Princes after he spent the majority of his final months at the Bernabeu on the bench.
Ramos has only played five times for PSG, complete 90 minutes twice, and is presently out due to a calf injury. That will almost certainly rule him out of the forthcoming Champions League last-16 match against Real Madrid, but things might get even worse.According to Le Parisien, Ramos’ continual injury issues have led to speculation that he may have to retire.
He said: “The injuries are very difficult because you can never predict how they will evolve.“It’s all about the configuration of the calf muscle.“You have to consider how the muscle has aged given the blows Ramos has taken in his career while playing at the highest level for 19 seasons and how much that has weakened his calves.”
