SPORTPESA chief executive Ronald Karauri declares he will run for the Kasarani constituency MP position in the upcoming August 9 polls.

Ronald Karuri, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of betting firm Sportpesa, has confirmed his candidacy for the Kasarani constituency Parliamentary seat, which he announced on Wednesday. He expressed his certainty that he will be elected to this position on August 9th, and that he will represent them. While declaring his candidacy for this seat, he also begged for votes and urged Kasarani residents to pick leaders who will bring change to their lives.

He is expected to face off with people like the current MP Mercy Gakuya and rapper Jackson Ngechu also known as Prezzo.Speaking on Wednesday, Karauri exhumed confidence that come August 9, he will be their representative. “I have officially announced my bid and I am asking for your votes,” he said. He called on Kasarani residents to elect leaders who will transform their lives starting with him.
Current MP Mercy Gakuya is also interested in the seatKarauri joins the long list of people who enjoy celebrity status who have tossed their hands into the murky waters of politics. Others who have expressed interest in the seat include; veteran rapper Jackson Ngechu popularly known as Prezzo.
Gakuya was elected in 2017 on a Jubilee ticket. Before her election, the constituency was represented by John Njoroge. ODM’s Elizabeth Ongoro represented Kasarani from 2007 to 2013.The former Kenya Airways pilot however, did not disclose which party he will vie under. He promised residents that he will transform the Constituency if elected in the August 2022 polls.

“I can say, here and today, that together we will change the face of Kasarani Constituency,” he said. He said that the people of Kasarani, and Kenya as a whole, need quality leadership that will champion issues in healthcare, youth employment and, more so, sports as a means of employment for the youth.
