Raphael Tuju, the secretary general of the Jubilee party, has lambasted allies seeking election on the Azimio La Umoja platform in the upcoming August general elections.
Mr Tuju reportedly chastised Azimio leaders on Saturday about allegedly leveraging the former prime minister’s name by refusing to help him mobilize voters registration before the second phase of new voter registration closes at the end of the first week of February, according to NTV reports.
“Raphael Tuju has challenged political aspirants planning to use the Azimio la Umoja ticket in the August general election to go slow on their own campaigns and help ODM party leader Raila Odinga hunt for votes nationally,” NTV reported while sharing a video of Tuju speaking.
According to sources, Tuju believes that just printing posters, burners, and billboards with Raila’s image will be ineffective unless Kenyans are organized to arm themselves with voter cards.
“If you don’t organize people waende wachukue kura them it means you are just exploiting Raila’s Name. Am better than you. Wewe uko na yako kama MCA na hao watu wametosha kukupigia kura lakini usipojitokeza kusaidia hii mobilization ya kuambia watu wachukue kura then you are Exploiting his name kwa kuweka picha yake kwa Kandi ya picha zenu,” Tuju said in a video shared by NTV.
