Suleiman Shabhal steps down in favor of Abdulswamad Nassir in MOMBASA gubernatorial race after talks with Raila.

Suleiman Shabhal, a businessman, has withdrawn from the Mombasa County gubernatorial campaign to make way for Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir. The ODM party claimed on its social media pages that Shabhal withdrew his candidacy owing to the need for a united front ahead of the upcoming elections.

“He claims that his decision was influenced by his belief in a United ODM in Mombasa. He plans to campaign for the party ahead of the 9/8 polls, according to him “The ODM party made a statement. Following the business mogul’s courageous gesture, the party’s leader, Raila Odinga, expressed gratitude to him, according to the party. The Orange Party has been holding lengthy talks in order to reach a consensus in the fiercely fought election.
