Tanzania Chasing its First International Loan Barely Months After Magufuli’s Death

Barely 3 months since Hon. John Pombe Magufuli’s death, and now the Tanzania government is open to pursuing their first international loan from the IMF (International Monetary Fund).

It is well known, during President Magufuli’s reign, no loans were pursued or whatever of the case, but with the rampant and the effects of coronavirus, Hon. Samia’s government has opened up to seek Kshs. 61 Billion to help fight the virus.

In a national budget reading session in parliament, the Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. Mwigulu Nchemba addressed the parliament on why and how the intended loan would be used to help fight the impacts the disease is causing both economically and socially.

Its recently where President Sululu gave the way forward to form a Covid 19 evaluation committee which would oversee and advise the government on way forward. Since then, the committee has looked into the situation and came up with a comprehensive report.

The report included vaccination and meeting from agencies and the WHO (World Health Organization) and try to help the government meet the recommended standards in fighting and controlling the spread of the deadly virus.
