Jimmy Wanjigi, the Safina Presidential Candidate, has reaffirmed his decision to run in the August elections for the country’s top position. National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi’s decision to join the Kenya Kwanza alliance, Wanjigi stated in Murang’a on Saturday, means he is now the indisputable Mt Kenya presidential candidate. The millionaire businessman claims to represent 99 percent of Kenyans who have been disenfranchised by their politicians, who are now pursuing tribal business at the expense of their people.
Wanjigi explained, “These are basically tribal conglomerates of people playing transactional politics at the request of their communities.” “I’m your insurgent, I don’t need tribal coalitions as we’ve seen today,” says 76 percent of young people. Wanjigi, who claims he is not afraid of being labeled a lone wolf, is convinced that Kenyans seeking a change of leadership will back his State House quest. “Some have labeled us lone rangers,” he continued, “but Robin Hood was a lone ranger but he had enough people, and Jesus was considered as a lone ranger.”
His comments come after the Democratic Party (DP) of National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi joined the Kenya Kwanza coalition. Speaker Muturi signed the coalition agreement with Kenya Kwanza co-principals Deputy President William Ruto, ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi, and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula in a Karen hotel on Saturday. DP Muturi’s move was praised by Ruto, who described the Democratic Party, which was created by former President Mwai Kibaki, as a watershed moment for economy-focused politics. Mwai Kibaki, Kenya’s first economist and third president, founded the Democratic Party (DP), whose forte has always been the economy,” Ruto added.
