Following their failure to appear in court for their assault case, a Nairobi court issued an arrest warrant for two brothers, Paul and Edward Ndichu. The police were ordered to arrest the two by Kibera chief magistrate Ann Mwangi. “Because the accused person has failed to appear in court despite a court order, I issue an arrest warrant against them,” Mwangi declared. The lawyer who was representing the accused in the case told the court that the accused’s lawyer was involved in another case at the high court.
“I am holding brief in the lawsuit, and I have instructions to request a new date since their counsel is involved in another case at the top court,” he explained. After Edward failed to appear in court for plea taking, lawyer Phillip Murgor told the court in the prior session that the accused person was taking the court for granted. Assault and malicious damage were prosecuted against one of the Ndichu brothers. Renee Kitagwa, a senior resident magistrate in Kibera, charged Paul Mwaura Ndichu. He refuted the allegations. He was released on Sh100,000 bond with cash bail of the same amount.
