Nyong’o Backs Ruto-Raila Partnership in Major Political U-Turn
Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o has made a significant political shift by endorsing the growing alliance between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
In a signed statement, Nyong’o praised the duo’s joint development tour of Kisumu County, describing their cooperation as the dawn of “a new era of meaningful progress and national cohesion.”
“We wholeheartedly support the decision by President Ruto and Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga to work together in the interest of national unity and development,” Nyong’o stated.
This endorsement marks a notable change in stance. Until recently, Nyong’o, along with Siaya Governor James Orengo, had maintained a firm position that ODM was not part of the Kenya Kwanza government.
The shift comes amid signs of a changing political landscape in Nyanza. Orengo is expected to lead a high-profile delegation to meet President Ruto on Thursday.
