Tanzanian Politician Godbless Lema Blocked from Entering Kenya for Medical Treatment
Tanzanian opposition politician Godbless Lema, a member of the CHADEMA party, was reportedly denied entry into Kenya on Friday, June 6, 2025, while attempting to travel for medical treatment.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Lema said he was detained at the Kenya-Tanzania border for over four hours before being informed that he could not proceed into Kenya. He further claimed that authorities confiscated his passport and instructed him to return to Arusha.
Lema, a former Member of Parliament, said he was in pain and had a scheduled medical appointment with his doctor in Nairobi.
