The government plans to collaborate with private security firms and resident associations to enhance security across the country, starting with Nairobi, Nakuru, and Mombasa.
The new initiative, Building Safer Communities, Strengthening Security, is led by the Ministry of Interior in partnership with the Kenya Alliance of Resident Associations (KARA). It aims to empower over 1.2 million private security officers to support police efforts in maintaining public safety.
Part of the broader KARA Usalama Mitaani Programme, the initiative promotes a community-centered approach to security, positioning safety as a shared responsibility among residents, government, and private stakeholders.
