Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has dismissed claims that the opposition has already settled on a presidential flag bearer for 2027.
Speaking on Radio Citizen on Monday, September 15, Natembeya described it as a “cold fact” that no one has been endorsed yet. He warned that no leader should declare themselves the candidate without a proper process.
His remarks came just hours after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua announced he would be the opposition’s choice in the next elections.
Natembeya insisted that the flag bearer will only be chosen after the opposition examines two key factors — the number of supporters a candidate can rally and the financial resources they can bring to sustain a presidential campaign.
