The Public Investments Committee (PIC) has questioned Social Health Authority (SHA) CEO Dr. Mercy Mwangangi over the payment of Ksh 77 million to three law firms to recover a debt of only Ksh 13 million during the 2020/2021 financial year, part of broader legal fees totaling Ksh 247 million flagged by auditors.
Dr. Mwangangi, who appeared before the Emmanuel Wangwe-led committee, pledged to provide a full report within three weeks, while MPs demanded accountability, noting gaps in responses to previous audit queries and questioning the origin of the expenditure.
