Eliud Kipchoge to Carry Olympic Flag at Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games
Kenyan marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge will carry the Olympic flag during the Opening Ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games, the International Olympic Committee announced on Monday.
Kipchoge joins a select group of eight global icons chosen to bear the five-ringed banner into Milan’s iconic San Siro Stadium on February 6. The honour places the 41-year-old distance running great at the heart of the Winter Games, despite his fame being built on road racing and track athletics.
The IOC said the selection reflects the Olympic values of unity, resilience, and perseverance across all sports. Kipchoge’s widely known philosophy, “No Human is Limited,” played a central role in the decision, symbolising determination that cuts across seasons, disciplines, and borders.
Although best known for his dominance on the marathon circuit, Kipchoge’s Olympic legacy stands among the greatest in sport.
