CAF Raises Stadium Capacity for Kenya vs Madagascar Clash After FKF Appeal
Kenyan fans have reason to celebrate after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved an 80 per cent stadium capacity for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) game between Harambee Stars and Madagascar.
The new directive means at least 38,400 supporters will be allowed into the Moi International Sports Complex, Kasarani — a notable increase from the 27,000 who attended Kenya’s last group fixture against Zambia.
The decision followed a successful appeal by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), supported by Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya, to overturn the 60 per cent cap earlier imposed by CAF.
That restriction was enforced after chaotic scenes during the Kenya vs Morocco clash on Sunday, August 10, when some fans breached security and stormed through the first gates at Kasarani.
